So I am finally organizing this massive camping trip for Labor Day weekend up in the Catskills and I am beyond hyped. There is like 7 of us going. Usually I just handle my own Amazon orders and call it a day, been a Prime user since like 2012 so I know the UI inside out. But man, trying to coordinate group gear is a total nightmare.

We have a shared spreadsheet for the $800 gear budget but sending individual URLs for every single tent stake, lantern, and dehydrated meal is driving me insane. I tried using the standard Wish List feature but it doesnt really update in real time when someone else wants to change a quantity or swap a brand and it feels so clunky for a quick hey look whats in the cart moment.

I have been looking for some kind of Chrome or Firefox extension that just lets me generate a link or a code that mirrors my current cart so the other guys can just import it or see exactly what I am about to pull the trigger on. I swear I saw something like this on a tech blog a while back but I cant find it now. It would save me so much time instead of copy-pasting a dozen links into our group chat every hour. Does anyone know of a reliable browser extension that lets you share or export your actual Amazon cart contents with other people?

I am so incredibly hyped for your Catskills trip! Camping is basically my life and I love getting all the gear sorted. I take a very methodical approach to my packing lists because I have seen total gear failures in the woods before. It is honestly fantastic when everyone knows exactly what is being bought. I have learned to be very cautious about a few things:

  • Avoid manual spreadsheets for pricing. Amazon prices move way too fast and you will end up over budget.
  • Beware of shipping discrepancies. Ordering gear from multiple sellers can eat up your budget in fees alone if you are not careful.
  • Security is key. Do not ever give your password out just to let someone see a cart. I personally use Cart To Link for all my group builds now. It is amazing for keeping a professional record of what we are actually pulling the trigger on. Tbh it is a total lifesaver for budget tracking and makes the whole process so much cleaner!

I've been using Share-A-Cart for my group camping trips and it works perfectly. Total lifesaver for coordinating lists without the copy-paste headache.

  • super fast setup
  • works well with Amazon
  • easy link sharing Honestly, just get the main extension from their site. You really can't go wrong with any of their tools for group buys, saved me tons of time last summer.
