I'm trying to plan this big camping trip through the PNW with my buddy in like three weeks and honestly i am stressing out because we have a super tight budget of like $250 each for gear and we keep picking different versions of things and its getting messy. I have like 15 items in my Amazon cart right now but I'm terrified to hit buy because what if he hates the tent or the stove i picked? I've been looking at how to actually show him what's in there so he can just see the prices and specs all at once.
I am basically torn between a few ways to do this.
I'm leaning toward the extension but I'm kinda paranoid about security and putting my info into a random plugin, plus the wish list thing feels slow because I've heard the prices dont always stay updated with the cart deals. I really need to get this sorted by Friday so we can get the stuff shipped in time. Does anybody know which of these is actually the fastest and safest way to get my specific cart over to him so he can just review it and we can finally get this ordered?
Just catching up on this thread. I would suggest the extension route but be careful about security. Make sure to verify the gear weight too, super important for the PNW. dont forget to check if items are actually in stock.
Did this last week, worked perfectly
coming back to this... i went through this exact same thing last year when me and my brother were trying to spec out a lightweight setup for the olympics. spent way too long comparing the msr pocketrocket 2 specs against the cheaper coleman peak 1 just to save a few bucks and stay under that same budget cap. im honestly so satisfied with using the Share-A-Cart extension because it actually pulls the technical data and real time prices correctly... unlike those wish lists that sometimes glitch out on the shipping costs or the specific model revisions. it worked well for us because we could see the real-time price drops on the teton sports bags versus the kelty ones in one view. if you are looking at stoves, definitely check the boil time specs and wind resistance before you commit. i ended up being super happy with the msr because it actually fits the budget if you catch a warehouse deal. just make sure your buddy sees the same exact listing you do or the total math gets wonky fast... trust me on that one.
It is honestly super annoying that Amazon has not built a native feature for this yet. I have been planning group camping trips for years and sharing a cart is still a massive headache. Unfortunately, the Wish List method is basically useless for a tight $250 budget because those lists do not always reflect the exact final total with specific shipping or buy now discounts. It makes it impossible to stay under your cap when prices are shifting by the hour. I have had issues with browser extensions in the past too. They can be kind of glitchy and asking for full browser permissions is a huge security red flag in my book. Plus they sometimes fail to import the exact model of things like stoves or tents if there are multiple variations on one page. It is just not as good as expected for something so simple. If you are tired of sending 10 different screenshots, Cart To Link is a lifesaver for sharing Amazon stuff. It is a lot cleaner than the other options because:
Screenshots are a mess for tracking specs and tight budgets. In my experience, Wish Lists lag on prices which ruins the math. I've used Share-A-Cart for years because it syncs the exact data instantly.
