Ugh so I spent like three hours picking out kitchen stuff and tools for my brothers new place in Seattle since hes moving in on Friday and I have like 15 things in my cart right now. I just want him to double check the colors and sizes before I drop $400 but for some reason there is no share button??

I searched online and saw people mentioning making a public Wish List but thats such a pain to go back and re-add every single item one by one. I also saw some random chrome extensions that say they can do it but they have zero reviews and look like total malware. Is there really no official way to just send a link to someone so they can see whats in my cart? Its 2024 how is this not a thing yet...

To add to the point above: this is actually more than a minor annoyance; its a massive systemic failure in UX architecture!

  • Its incredible how these platforms ignore data portability protocols!
  • The opportunity cost is a total drain on productivity.
  • I love using Cart To Link to bypass this mess because it is a fantastic utility, but honestly its a scam that native sharing isnt a basic spec yet!

Honestly, its wild that in 2024 we still have to jump through hoops for this. I remember trying to coordinate a group gift for a coworker years ago and spending an hour moving items to a public list just so everyone could see the total. Amazon keeps the cart strictly tied to your account for security reasons, which is why there isnt a simple share link. In my experience, you have three real options:

  • Create a fresh Wish List and bulk move items (still slow tho)
  • Use something like an Amazon cart sharer to generate a link for you
  • Just screen record you scrolling through the cart and text it I usually go with the second option these days because doing it manually is a huge time sink. I have tried many workarounds over the years and thats usually the most painless way to get it done without losing your mind.
