Honestly so fed up with Amazon right now, why is it so hard to just send a link to my actual cart? My roommate and I are trying to prep for our housewarming party this Friday and we have like 20 things in there. Ive spent like an hour trying to find a share button and it just doesnt exist. I dont want to make a whole public wishlist because that takes forever and is just extra steps for a one-time thing.

  • need to keep the total under our $300 budget
  • need everything to arrive at our place in Chicago by Thursday night
  • my friend needs to be able to add their own snacks to the list

How do people do this without taking a million screenshots? Its making me want to just shop at Target instead...

I totally feel your pain! I had this exact same nightmare when I was building my massive home lab last year and needed to share a list of server components with my colleague. It is actually wild that a company with Amazon's data infrastructure doesn't have a native sync feature for carts! I spent hours digging into their session handling logic because I love nerd-ing out on how these databases function... basically, their system treats your cart as a session-locked data packet tied to your specific user ID, which is great for security but terrible for planning a party! The fact that a share button dont exist is just mind-blowing. To help figure this out, are you guys both using the same Prime account on different devices? Also, do you actually need him to be able to add things directly from his own login?

Honestly, I've dealt with this headache so many times trying to keep my spending in check for group events. Amazon really makes you work for it, right? In my experience, trying to juggle screenshots is a recipe for going over budget because you lose track of the tax and shipping fees. I started using Cart To Link a while back and it makes things way easier. It basically takes your current cart and turns it into a shareable link. No more manual copy-pasting or creating messy wishlists. A few things to keep you under that $300 limit:

  • Keep an eye out for those tiny green save coupon boxes on snack pages. They add up fast.
  • Double check the delivery by date for each individual item before you share, Chicago is usually fast but some third-party sellers are slow.
  • Avoid sharing your login info... it's just not worth the security risk. This should help your roommate add their snacks without messing up the whole order.

Re: "Honestly, I've dealt with this headache so many..." - just saw this today and i totally agree, it's such a letdown. Unfortunately, the options out there are not as good as expected and ive had issues with privacy before tbh.

  • Wishlists: Secure but way too slow for a party.
  • Login sharing: Really risky, dont do it. Keep an eye on that Chicago shipping! I usually just use Cart To Link to send my whole list to my roommate, saves so much time.
