Which thumb grips and straps are actually worth it for the X100 series?

I finally snagged a VI for my Tokyo trip but the ergonomics are stressing me out compared to my old X-T series. I need something secure that wont block the dials because I am super clumsy and terrified of dropping this $1600 brick...

TL;DR: Lensmate Thumb Grip for Fujifilm X100VI is king for dial access. Pair with Peak Design Leash Camera Strap Black. Super happy with this setup, no complaints at all.

Honestly you dont need to spend a fortune to keep that camera safe! These budget picks are amazing and save you money for more ramen in Tokyo.

the ergonomics on the VI are honestly a letdown compared to the xt series and its getting frustrating. i spent a while measuring the hot shoe depth and unfortunately fuji seems to have slight variance in the casting this time around. i picked up the SmallRig Thumb Grip for Fujifilm X100VI 4563 expecting a tight fit but it had way too much lateral movement. its not as good as expected and feels like a cheap placeholder. even the Gariz Design Genuine Leather Half Case for Fujifilm X100VI doesnt add enough depth to the grip to actually make it feel secure in hand. i hate that we have to buy three different things just to make a $1600 camera feel usable. quick tip: shim the hot shoe with gaffer tape if your grip has play. check lug eyelets for burrs frequently.

Like someone mentioned, the Lensmate is a solid choice but if you're really worried about reliability and that premium feel, Match Technical Thumbs Up EP-2V for Fujifilm X100V is probably the sturdiest one out there. It's machined brass so it wont bend or snap, and the fit is incredibly tight so it doesn't wiggle. It's expensive but feels like a tank compared to the aluminum ones. For the strap, if you're worried about dropping it, the Peak Design Cuff Camera Wrist Strap Black is objectively more secure than a standard loop. It has a magnetic lock that cinches down on your wrist if the camera falls. If that looks too modern, Clever Supply Co Skinny Anchor Strap is a great middle ground. It uses the Peak Design anchors for safety but gives you a nice leather look that fits the Fuji aesthetic better. Both are super solid options depending on if you want pure function or a bit more style while you're wandering around Shinjuku. Just make sure whatever you pick feels right in the hand before your flight!
