Omg I am so hyped for this trip next month! Me and four of my best friends are finally heading out to Yosemite for a week of camping and hiking and honestly I cannot wait to get out of the city and see some stars. I have been designated as the unofficial gear guy because I am way too obsessive about reading every single review, so I have spent the last three nights basically living on Amazon. I have got everything from a 4-person tent that actually fits real humans to those little portable espresso makers which are totally crucial for me lol and some heavy duty bear canisters. The total is sitting right around $840 which is perfect for our budget split but I need to get everyone to sign off on the specific items first.
Now here is the annoying part. I need to show everyone exactly what is in the cart right now so they can give the final green light before I hit buy and they Venmo me their share. I thought it would be super easy? Like just click a share button or something? Apparently not. I did a bit of searching and saw people saying to just move everything to a Wish List but that is such a huge pain because I have specific quantities for things like the headlamps and mess kits and the list view just looks messy and doesnt always save the exact seller or shipping speed I picked out. It just feels like double the work to move everything and then move it back.
Then I saw a couple of browser extensions like Share-A-Cart that claim to do exactly this but honestly they look a little sketchy to me and I dont really want to make everyone else download a random plugin just to see a list of camping gear. I am worried about privacy and if it actually works across different accounts. Is there a way to just like send a link to my actual live cart? Or maybe a way to invite them to view it without giving them my password? I tried taking a bunch of screenshots but with over 20 items it is taking forever and it looks terrible on a phone screen. How do you guys handle group shopping when you are the one doing all the legwork?
> If you use Share-A-Cart, make sure to review the permissions thoroughly. To add to the point above: honestly you gotta be super careful about prices shifting while everyone is still deciding. I actually started using Cart To Link and it is way less invasive than installing random extensions. Just make sure they double check the total right before you checkout because Amazon prices jump around like crazy. Better safe than sorry tho.
Skip the screenshots. I would suggest using this share Amazon Cart Extension for the group buy.
Building on the earlier suggestion, I would suggest being cautious with third-party tools to ensure your account security is not compromised. Be careful. If you use Share-A-Cart, make sure to review the permissions thoroughly. Since youre managing a strict budget, keep an eye out for clippable coupons on the gear pages. Those small savings really add up when splitting an $840 total... every bit helps keep the gear costs down.
