So I finally pulled the trigger on the Mini 4 Pro after saving up for months and it just showed up today. Honestly its so light it feels like a toy but i know the camera is killer. Im taking it up to Olympic National Park in like three weeks and I really want to make sure I have what I need to not mess up the shots but my bank account is hurting lol. I have maybe 200 bucks left to spend on gear for this trip.
Im really torn between getting the Freewell All Day ND filter set or just sticking with the basic DJI ones and maybe getting a really solid hard case instead. I saw some people say the wide angle lens is a must have for landscapes but others say it makes the edges look weird and blurry? Then there is the whole battery situation. I only have the one that came with it. Should I blow the whole budget on the plus batteries for more flight time or would I be better off getting a high speed charger and a set of filters? I'm leaning toward the batteries because PNW weather is unpredictable and I might only get small windows of clear skies to fly but then the footage might look choppy without the filters. What do you guys think is the actual priority for a first timer...
Grab these budget essentials for the trip:
Yo! So stoked for you, the Mini 4 Pro is absolutely amazing and youre gonna love it! Since youre heading to the PNW, you definitely need that extra flight time. I would grab the DJI Intelligent Flight Battery Plus immediately. It bumps your theoretical flight time from 34 minutes up to 45 minutes, which is massive when youre waiting for a break in the clouds at Olympic! Honestly, the 1/1.3 inch sensor is fantastic but you really need to nail the motion blur to make it look professional. For your budget, skip the fancy case and get the Freewell All Day 6-Pack ND Filters for Mini 4 Pro. Having the ND8 through ND1000 set is a total game changer for keeping your shutter speed at double your frame rate... that 180 degree rule is key! Forget the wide angle lens tho, the distortion at the edges is real and it just ruins the 48MP detail. Stick with the batteries and filters and youll be golden!
