Im actually so annoyed right now because I just got my Mini 4 Pro and I cant even take off from my own backyard without the gimbal throwing a fit. Every time I try to launch from the grass, even when its trimmed short, the sensors go crazy or I get that gimbal motor overloaded warning and Im honestly terrified Im gonna burn the motor out before I even get a decent flight in. Its so stressful because I spent a lot of money on this thing and the ground where I live is just super dusty and uneven which is a total nightmare for these tiny drones. Im planning a hiking trip to the PNW next week and I know the sand and dirt there is gonna be even worse so I desperately need a solid landing pad that actually works.
Im looking for something that fits these specs:
Ive seen those cheap orange ones on Amazon but they look like theyd just fly away the second the downwash hits them or a slight breeze kicks up. Has anyone found one thats actually heavy enough to stay put without being a massive pain to carry around?
Honestly, I feel your pain. Ive ruined a gimbal before trying to take off from short grass and its a total nightmare. Over the years Ive tried a bunch of these, and those cheap pop-up circle ones are basically kites... total waste of money if there is even a tiny breeze. For your PNW trip, you definitely want something with actual weight to it so it stays put. In my experience, these two are the only ones worth the bag space:
Basically, the Heiyrc 20 Inch Drone Landing Pad Weighted Rubber is excellent because its 700g mass prevents wind lift without stakes. It folds to 10 inches and reliably protects the gimbal from dust.
