What are the actual must-have accessories for the Mini 4 Pro that you guys actually use every time you go out? I just picked mine up for a photography trip to the Scottish Highlands in three weeks and I am trying to figure out what else I need besides the drone itself. I saw a lot of people saying ND filters are essential for that cinematic look but then I read on a forum that they are basically useless if you are mostly taking photos which is what I plan to do mostly.

I have about 150 bucks left in my budget for extra gear and I do not want to blow it on stuff that just sits in the bag.

  • Landing gear extensions?
  • Extra batteries vs the hub?
  • A specific hard case?

I am kinda worried about the wind and the uneven ground up there so I am not sure if those tiny legs are enough or if I should just hand launch...

Adding my two cents. In my experience driving through the glens, charging between spots was my biggest headache. Ive tried many setups and a fast car adapter was the real MVP.

Skip the landing gear extensions if you are worried about the wind. They basically act like sails and reduce stability, which is risky in the Highlands. Hand launching is way safer. Pick up a DJI RC 2 Lanyard Bracket and Strap instead. It keeps your controller secure if you lose your footing on wet grass. Also, grab some spare DJI Mini 4 Pro Propeller 1 Pair because finding replacements out there is basically impossible.

Honestly, the Scottish Highlands are beautiful but the weather is totally unpredictable. If you are mostly doing photos, you are right about the ND filters... they are mainly for video motion blur. Unless you want those misty waterfall shots, you can probably skip them for now and save the cash for stuff that keeps the drone safe. Since you are worried about the ground and wind, here is what I would grab with that 150 budget to keep things reliable:

  • DJI Mini 4 Pro Intelligent Flight Battery 2590mAh
  • Grab at least one more. Having a backup is essential if the wind picks up and you need extra juice to get back to your takeoff point safely.
  • Startrc Foldable Landing Pad 20 inch
  • This is way better than gear extensions. Extensions can make the drone catch the wind like a sail and tip over on landing. A pad gives you a clean, flat spot to land even in the heather.
  • Lykus Titan MA210 Waterproof Hard Case
  • It is super rugged. I feel much better tossing this in a backpack or the boot of a car than using the soft shoulder bag DJI provides.
  • SanDisk Extreme Pro 128GB microSDXC V30
  • You really dont want a slow card failing or running out of space when you are taking raw photos. I really recommend practicing hand launching in a park before you leave. It is definitely the best way to handle uneven ground, but it takes a bit of nerve when it is gusty. Just be careful with your fingers tho because the drone can move unexpectedly in a breeze.
