Which external mic is gonna give me the cleanest signal on my Nikon Z6ii? Ive been shooting for a decade but suddenly my old shotgun is giving me crazy preamp hiss.
Im filming a wedding in Seattle next month and need to stay under $350. Is the VideoMic NTG better or should I look at Sennheiser?

Late to the party, but be careful with those Nikon preamps. They get noisy fast if you push them. To stay under $350 and keep the signal clean, I would suggest:
- Deity V-Mic D3 Pro Super-Cardioid Shotgun. Its analog gain knob lets you dial in levels precisely.
- Rode VideoMic Pro+ Super-Cardioid Shotgun. Make sure to use the +20dB boost to bypass the camera's internal noise. Seriously, keep the camera gain at 1 or 2 and let the mic do the heavy lifting.

was thinking about this... tbh i had a lot of issues with the Rode VideoMic NTG On-Camera Mic. it unfortunately didnt cut the hiss as much as id hoped on my nikon. honestly the <a href=" https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt= Sennheiser+MKE+600+Shotgun+Microphone&BI=8941&KBID=10361&SID=12345&DFF=d50" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Sennheiser MKE 600 Shotgun Microphone is the way to go. the signal is way cleaner since it has its own battery power to bypass those weak internal preamps. itll save your seattle gig.
