Im honestly so done with this bulky Sony zoom I bought. It weighs a ton and I stick out like a sore thumb in downtown Chicago, people just stop acting natural when they see this massive glass. My logic was that I needed the zoom for versatility but my neck is killing me after an hour and its way too intimidating for candid shots. Im ready to switch to Sigma because they seem way more compact. I was thinking maybe the 35mm f2 or that tiny 45mm... I have a trip to NYC next month and about $700 max to spend so I gotta figure this out. What is the absolute best Sigma for street photography that wont weigh me down?
Unfortunately, the Sigma 45mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary was super soft for me.
To add to the point above: just saw this thread and id actually disagree about the 35mm being best for NYC. I used it there last year and it felt too tight for those narrow streets and tall buildings. You might want to consider the Sigma 24mm f2 DG DN Contemporary instead.
Ive used both; the Sigma 35mm f/2 DG DN Contemporary offers superior speed, whereas the Sigma 45mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary prioritizes size. I'd recommend the 35mm for optical quality.
