Im honestly so fed up with the ergonomics on this Sigma fp. It is like holding a wet bar of soap and i keep almost dropping it during street shoots in Chicago. I only have like $200 left for my setup this month.

What are the absolute must-have accessories for a new Sigma fp to make it actually usable?

Unfortunately the fp is pretty much a bar of soap without extra bits. I really struggled with the handling at first, honestly such a disappointing design choice by Sigma. You definitely need a SmallRig Cage for Sigma FP Series CCD2264 to give your hands something to actually hold. It was way less ergonomic than I expected, but adding that and a Sigma HG-11 Large Hand Grip makes it feel better.

I would suggest looking into a thumb rest to improve the leverage ratio. You might want to consider the Haoge THB-LS Metal Thumb Up Grip for Sigma fp which slots into the hot shoe. It helps stabilize the 422g body weight. Also, make sure to get the SmallRig Base Plate for Sigma fp 2677. It adds 10mm of height so your pinky doesnt hang off.

  • Haoge Grip: ~$45
  • SmallRig Baseplate: ~$30

Building on the earlier suggestion, I actually think a full cage is overkill if you want to keep the setup light. I am really satisfied with the Sigma Hand Grip HG-11 for my fp. It works well and makes the camera feel way more secure in hand. I also added a Peak Design Cuff Camera Wrist Strap for safety because i am always paranoid about dropping it. No complaints with this combo tbh.
