Snagged a Q2 for my Italy trip next month and need a leather half-case. I've been looking at Arte di Mano but the lead times are crazy and Oberwerth looks nice but I read the fit is sometimes loose at the bottom... my budget is around 200.
Which one is actually worth it?
Building on the earlier suggestion, I had a similar hunt when I snagged my Q2 right before a trip to Greece last summer. I actually ordered a few different cases just to compare them because I'm super picky about the grip. The first generic one I tried was a total letdown because the leather was too thin and felt like cardboard... it just didn't feel like it matched the cameras build. I ended up testing the TP Original Leather Half Case for Leica Q2 and it was actually decent for the price, though the screw mechanism was a bit fiddly. Tbh, the fit is everything when you're walking miles a day.
I've tried many over the years and the Kaza Deluxe Leica Q2 Leather Half Case Set offers the best technical tolerance for the Q2 body. Base plate alignment is crucial so you dont block the battery or SD card slots. Most sub-200 cases use cheaper bonded leather that stretches, but their cowhide stays rigid. Its a solid practical choice for a trip like that.
Just saw this thread and honestly... I had a really disappointing experience with a few mid-range cases before finding something that actually worked. I tried a cheaper generic one first and the dye literally started rubbing off on my palms during a humid day. It was a total mess and I spent ages cleaning the residue off the silver finish. I also spent some time with the Vi Vante Leica Q2 Half Case and while it looks super stylish, the leather felt way too thin for actual protection. It felt more like a decorative skin than a protective case, which was a huge letdown since I wanted something for travel. It just didnt feel sturdy enough to handle a bump against a door frame or a wall. If you want real reliability, maybe check out the Angelo Pelle Leica Q2 Half Case. I finally bit the bullet on one and the leather is thick enough to actually absorb an impact if you accidentally bang the camera while walking. It feels much more secure in the hand too. Quick tip: Make sure the case you pick has a reinforced tripod mount. Some of the softer leather ones tend to sag over time which makes the whole setup feel wobbly on a strap. Enjoy Italy, the light there is gonna be amazing for the Q2.
