Got a Mini 4 Pro for my Colorado trip this Thursday and I'm stressed because I spent all my cash on the drone. I read ND filters are a must but then some people say auto is fine. Extra batteries are so expensive too... I only have $150 left. What are the actual must-have accessories I need to buy right now?

^ This. Also, please be careful with the terrain out there. Colorado is beautiful but the wind and dust are no joke for a small drone. Since you only have $150, I would suggest prioritizing protection over fancy extras.

  • DJI Care Refresh 1-Year Plan Mini 4 Pro
  • PGYTECH Drone Landing Pad Pro
  • Anker 735 Charger GaNPrime 65W Dont skip the insurance tho. Honestly, if you clip a pine tree or the wind grabs it near a cliff, you are out the whole drone without it. The landing pad is vital because mountain soil is full of grit that ruins motors and scratches the gimbal during takeoff. Since you cant afford more batteries yet, that fast charger is your best friend for topping off in the car between hike locations. Just make sure to watch your flight time closely in the cold air because batteries drain way faster when it is chilly.

I was honestly disappointed with the default auto look when I first took my Mini 4 Pro into the mountains. The glare off the snow is brutal and it makes the footage look kind of cheap and shaky... definitely not what you want for a Colorado trip. Since you only have 150 bucks left, you gotta be smart about what actually matters for the image quality.

  • Freewell Bright Day 6-Pack ND Filters for Mini 4 Pro
  • These are usually about 50 dollars. I have had issues with cheaper off-brands having a weird green color cast, but these are solid. You absolutely need them to keep your shutter speed low or your video will look jittery and gross in that high-altitude sun.
  • Anker 735 GaNPrime 65W Charger
  • It is pretty annoying that DJI doesnt give you a wall brick anymore. If you try to charge your drone with a basic phone cube, you will be waiting literally hours between flights. This one is fast enough to actually get you back in the air before the sun goes down.
  • Spigen Tempered Glass Screen Protector for DJI RC 2
  • Hiking involves rocks and accidents happen. I was not as careful as I should have been once and scratched my screen on a zipper... it was a nightmare to look at after that. For 15 bucks, this is basically insurance. I would skip the landing pads and the fancy prop guards for now. They arent as helpful as people claim and they just add unnecessary weight to your pack when you are hiking. Just focus on the light control and keeping your charging times down.

Dude, congrats on the Mini 4 Pro! That thing is absolutely incredible and honestly, you're gonna have the best time in Colorado with it! Those mountain views are just amazing from the air. Since you're on a tight budget of 150 bucks, you gotta prioritize or you'll be stuck on the ground. First off, you 100% need a fast SD card. Nothing ruins a trip like a slow card failing mid-flight. I swear by the SanDisk Extreme Pro 128GB microSDXC UHS-I V30 because it's super reliable and usually only costs around 20-25 bucks. Next, you gotta get at least one extra DJI Mini 4 Pro Intelligent Flight Battery. One battery gives you like 30 mins of real flight time, but in the thin mountain air, it goes fast! That'll set you back about 65 dollars. About the ND filters... people hype them up for that cinematic motion blur, but if you're stressed about cash, just shoot in auto for now! Your footage will still look fantastic because the sensor is so good. If you really want that professional look tho, grab the NEEWER ND Filter Set for DJI Mini 4 Pro 6-Pack. It's way cheaper than the official ones and works great. That leaves you a little left over for a basic STARTRC Mini 4 Pro Carrying Case to keep it safe in your backpack. Go have a blast in the Rockies, it’s gonna be epic!
