> Don't know why DJI didn't release OM 7 in 2023. Maybe this fall. Re: that, it might actually be a good thing. In my experience, these companies sometimes rush releases and we end up being beta testers for buggy firmware. Over the years, I've tried many different setups and I've found that reliability beats new features every single time. If you're tired of waiting and need something rock solid right now, the DJI Osmo Mobile 6 Smartphone Gimbal is a very safe bet since they've already ironed out most the kinks. If you want to jump ship to something else that's super reliable, I'd look at the Insta360 Flow AI Tracking Stabilizer. The build quality is great and it's been very dependable for me in the field. Honestly, it's better to go with a proven tool than wait around for a release date that keeps shifting.

just caught up on this thread... tbh I got tired of waiting for the OM 7 rumors to come true last year and ended up branching out. I spent a few months testing the Insta360 Flow AI Tracking Smartphone Stabilizer and it has been a bit of a rollercoaster. The built-in tripod and fast deployment are great, but I would suggest being careful with the AI tracking in crowded areas... it sometimes jumps to a different person if they cross paths which is super annoying. I also gave the Hohem iSteady M6 Kit 3-Axis Smartphone Gimbal a shot when I was doing more pro-style shoots with external lenses. Its way more powerful than the DJI stuff, basically a tank, but you might want to consider the weight. My wrist was definitely feeling it after an hour of shooting. DJI software is usually more polished, so switching brands is always a risk. Just make sure to look at the motor payloads because the newer phones are getting heavy and the older gimbals struggle. I dont think we will see an OM 7 until they find a way to make it significantly different from the 6.

Honestly, I stopped waiting for the next big release a while ago. Last year I spent way too much time refreshing leaks only to realize my current setup was fine after some small DIY mods. I actually just attached a counterweight I made myself to an older stabilizer and it handles my heavier phone way better than most new gimbals out of the box. If you're really itching for something new though, I'd say just look at anything from Zhiyun. You really can't go wrong with their hardware and they usually have more physical controls which I prefer. Just make sure to check if their app works well with your specific phone before you buy... sometimes the android support is a bit hit or miss compared to iOS. Its a bit of a gamble with these software updates so I would suggest staying cautious about being an early adopter. Just grab something reliable from them and you'll be set for a few years. Let me know if you need help figuring out the balancing stuff, its easier than it looks.

I still think there's a good chance we'll see the Osmo Mobile 7 before the end of the year. Keep your eyes peeled for any official announcements or leaks in the coming months!
