im trying to get a bunch of decorations and snacks for my family reunion next month and i spent hours picking out stuff on amazon. i probably have like 15 things in my cart right now for around 200 bucks. i wanted my sister to look at it before i hit buy but i cant find a way to just send her the link to my cart? i tried copying the address bar but it just takes her to her own empty cart.

sorry if this is really basic but i literally dont know what im doing. what are the best tools for sharing a full cart so she can see the total and everything at once?

In my experience, messing with wishlists for a big party is just a waste of time. I have tried many workarounds over the years to keep my budget tight. Honestly, the share Amazon Cart Extension is the only way to do it right. It lets your sister see the total price immediately so you can cut expensive items before you checkout.

just catching up on this thread and honestly i have to disagree with the extension route. i am super cautious about browser security and giving a random plugin access to my amazon account is a massive red flag for me. i have tried many different tools over the years and they always end up being more trouble than they are worth. the safest and most reliable way is still using the native collaborative list feature. here is why:

  • total control. you dont have to worry about your data being tracked by a third party.
  • price tracking. you can see exactly when the total changes which is huge when you are on a budget.
  • reliability. extensions break all the time when amazon updates their site layout. just move the items to a list and invite her as a collaborator. it takes like two minutes and you wont have to worry about security issues or your cart not loading for her. plus if you are looking for bulk snacks i found the Frito-Lay Variety Pack 35 Count usually has the best price per bag for reunions. stay safe and stick to the built in tools imo.

^ This. Also, you might want to consider how fast the budget can spiral out of control when you start sharing these things. I remember when my cousin was organizing a huge cookout last summer. She thought she had the perfect cart set up to save money, but then she shared the details with her siblings and it was basically a free-for-all. Everyone started suggesting just one more thing and the total went from reasonable to insane within an hour. I would suggest keeping a close eye on that checkout button. I think we tried using Cart To Link or something similar back then just to keep track of it all, but honestly, it just turned into a whole ordeal with people arguing over which brand of soda was better. Tbh its such a headache trying to please everyone for these big gatherings... half the snacks she bought didnt even get opened! Just be careful your sister doesnt talk you into adding another fifty bucks of stuff you dont really need.
