How can I share my Amazon cart contents with a friend?

I have been staring at my screen for like forty minutes now and I am about to lose it honestly. I am trying to build this custom cat climbing wall for my new apartment because my cat is literally destroying my curtains and I found all the perfect pieces on Amazon. I have got shelves, those little scratchy pads, some wall anchors and even some fake vines to make it look nice. I think I have about 14 items in my cart right now and the total is coming to about $185 which is perfect for my budget but I need to show my roommate before I actually hit buy.

She is the one with the drill and the handy skills so she needs to check if the anchors are the right size for our walls and if the shelves are actually sturdy enough. But for the life of me I cannot find a share button anywhere. Is there really no way to just send someone a link to your cart? I feel like such a newbie asking this and I am probably missing something super obvious right in front of my face but I have clicked every single menu item and nothing. I am so sorry if this is like a day one thing everyone knows how to do but I am just stuck.

Here is what I am trying to do:

  • I need her to see the exact items and the specific colors I picked out
  • I dont want to give her my login or password because that seems unsafe and weird
  • I want her to be able to maybe add things if I missed something
  • We need to get this ordered by Tuesday so it gets here for the weekend when we both have time off work

I tried taking screenshots but there are too many items and you cant see the full titles or the descriptions of the mounting hardware in a tiny picture. Plus it takes forever to crop everything. I thought maybe there was a collaborate button? I am just so frustrated because I thought this would take two seconds and now I am just sitting here clicking around in circles. How do people usually do this? Do I have to make a whole separate list or something? I really hope there is a faster way because I already have everything sitting in the cart ready to go...

> But for the life of me I cannot find a share button anywhere. Is there really no way to just send someone a link to your cart? Honestly, it is so wild that they dont have a simple button for this! I ran into the same exact headache when I was trying to coordinate a huge rack-mount server build with my brother last summer. We had like 30 different SKU numbers and voltage specs to cross-reference and it was a total nightmare at first. Love the cat wall idea tho! Amazing projects like that are the best. Here is the move:

  • Select all items in your cart and click Move to List
  • Open that list and hit the Invite button at the top
  • Select the Collaborate option so she can add stuff too Its literally the only way to let her see the technical hardware specs and add her own gear without sharing passwords. I use this trick all the time for my complex electronics builds!

Building on the earlier suggestion, I am pretty sure you are right that there is literally no native share button for carts on Amazon! It is so annoying because I think the cart is tied to your specific browser session and cookies, so a link just wouldn't work for anyone else. I love it when I find a workaround tho!

  • Select everything in your cart and hit Move to List.
  • Create a new list called Cat Wall and make it Shared.
  • Send her the invite link so she can edit it. I am not 100% sure if the specific variations like color always carry over perfectly if you move them in bulk, but it is usually fantastic for collaboration. Honestly, Amazon should just fix this already! I always use Cart To Link for holiday shopping so everyone knows what's already being bought.
