I'm really spiraling about my birthday coming up next month and I cant decide if I should just send my family a link to my Amazon wishlist or if I should just screenshot my actual shopping cart and send that instead? My mom and sister keep bugging me for ideas because I just moved into a tiny studio in Chicago and I basically have nothing for my kitchen yet. Im torn because the wishlist feels more like a formal gift list but I have a lot of random stuff on there that I dont actually need right now, just things I like. If I send the shopping cart it shows the exact items I need like the $25 dish drying rack and the specific toaster that fits on my tiny counter, but is that weird? I feel like showing a cart makes it look like I'm just asking them to pay my bills or something and that feels super tacky. But then if I send the wishlist I'm worried they will buy the fun stuff like the neon sign I saved and ignore the stuff I actually need to live. My budget is so tight right now that I really cant afford to buy the essentials myself if they get me the wrong things. Does sending a cart screenshot come off too aggressive or is it just more practical for everyone involved? I need to tell them something by tomorrow...
In my experience, screenshots are a total data nightmare since links arent clickable. Over the years, I've found family needs a direct path to the exact SKU.
I've had nothing but issues with both methods, unfortunately. Last year my sister bought a 'similar' dish rack from a screenshot I sent, but it didn't even fit my sink. It was a total waste.
