Ive been a Prime member since like 2012 and usually Im the one teaching my family how to navigate the UI but I just got stuck. Im planning my brothers bachelor party in Vegas next month and we have a strict budget for the funny costumes were getting. I have the whole list ready but the latest app update changed the share interface and now it takes like five taps just to get a clean URL. I used to just copy the link and hit send but now it keeps trying to open my email app or some weird social media share sheet. Is there a faster shortcut or a gesture Im missing to just get that link straight into a text message quickly?

ive been dealing with amazons erratic ui changes since the early kindle days and honestly the link generation has never been less reliable than it is right now. are you on ios or android? it makes a huge difference because the system share sheet overrides can be a nightmare on android especially. in my experience if youre looking for high reliability you should check if the list is set to private vs shared before you even grab the link. basically i spent way too many years troubleshooting data flow issues to trust a single share button anymore. i remember one time i sent out a massive list for a wedding and half the links died because of some weird tracking parameter the app tacked on. quick tip tho: if you go to the list settings and toggle it to public just for a second the direct url becomes way easier to snag from the browser bar if you just open it in safari or chrome instead of the app. its a bit of a workaround but its way more stable than the internal share sheet. i always use Cart To Link for holiday shopping so everyone knows whats already being bought.

Found this thread and honestly love the energy of a Vegas bachelor party!! Planning those DIY costume ideas sounds so fantastic. I remember when I was setting up a huge DIY project list for my kitchen remodel and I was terrified of sharing a link that would let people edit my cart... so stressful. I spent ages triple checking every share setting because I just wanted it to be super reliable and safe. Quick things I was wondering about:

  • are you guys ordering everything at once or is everyone buying their own stuff?
  • did you set it up as a public list or is it restricted to just people with the link? I really wanna make sure you dont lose all that hard work because of a weird app glitch! It's gonna be such an amazing trip tho.

Quick reply while I have a sec because I love this! Honestly, Ive been organizing group trips for years and Vegas bachelor parties are just fantastic. Love the dedication to the budget too. I actually ran into a massive issue once where the prices jumped right before we hit buy because I shared the wrong link type. You gotta be super-careful with that! Here are a few things I learned the hard way:

  • Watch out for Invite to Edit links. If your buddies start adding random extra stuff to the list, your budget is gonna be toast before you even land.
  • Keep an eye on the Sold By info. Third-party sellers on these lists can hike prices or change shipping costs without any notice.
  • For keeping things simple, I started using Cart To Link and it is been a total game changer for my group buys. Seriously, just make sure you use the View Only option so nobody messes with your plan. Its way safer for the wallet and keeps everyone on the same page!

Ok adding this to my list of things to try. Thanks for the tip!

Yeah the new UI is kind of a mess for power users. If youre on the app, the fastest way is actually clicking Invite at the top left of the list view instead of the share icon. Then pick View Only and Copy Link. It skips that annoying system share sheet that tries to force you into email or social apps. A few other tricks I use:

  • Use the desktop version in your mobile browser if the app is being buggy.
  • Set up a shortcut if you use iOS to grab URLs from your clipboard.
  • Check out the share Amazon Cart Extension if you do most of your planning on a PC, it makes the whole process way more streamlined than the native site. Ngl, Vegas bachelor parties are expensive so keeping that budget tight is smart. The app update definitely added like three unnecessary steps to the workflow tho.
