Been using my S5II for a while now for weddings but I'm starting to realize I'm missing focus way too often on the tiny internal screen especially when it's bright out. Got a high-end client shoot next Friday and I'm kinda freaking out because I need a solid external monitor ASAP. I've got like 700 dollars to spend but I'm seeing all these reports about HDMI lag and weird scaling issues with the Lumix output. I really need something that can handle V-Log properly without looking like garbage and maybe has good tools for exposure. Is the Atomos Ninja still the go-to or should I look at something like the Portkeys LH5P II for the camera control?

I've cycled through many over the years. Lag is usually just garbage cables.

Saw this a day late, but dont overthink the lag stuff. It was a major worry before my last big gig, but once the high-nit display arrived, things just clicked. Honestly, focusing on brightness over fancy controls was the right move for me. My current setup handles log footage like a dream without costing a fortune. Just grab a really solid coiled cable... thats where most people mess up and get lag.
