How do I send an Amazon wishlist link to someone else?

I am finally putting together a list for my move to Austin next month and my budget for new kitchen gear is like 500 bucks so I made a wishlist to show my family. Im stuck between two ways to share it though. I see the big Invite button that gives a View Only link, but then I also see people just copying the URL from the top of the browser. Im leaning toward the Invite link but I dont want it to expire or force my grandma to make a new account just to see the toaster I want. Which way actually works better for people who arent tech savvy? I just need them to see the items and nothing else...

Been thinking about your question for a bit. Like someone mentioned, the browser URL usually fails because of privacy settings. The Invite button works for most cases. Technically, that View Only link creates a temporary access token so Grandma wont need an account. Its a decent option for family. If that feels too complex, the Send list to others button has a direct email feature too.

Regarding what #2 said about "Been thinking about your question for a bit...", Im literally dealing with this exact same headache for my own move. Ive been obsessing over kitchen gear too. I tried comparing these:

  • Invite Link: Easy to make but feels clunky for non-techy parents.
  • Public Registry: Looks cleaner but feels like Im asking for too much money. Still havent decided which way to go, its such a toss up.

In my experience, copying the browser URL is a rookie mistake that leads to a lot of dead links. Unless your list is specifically set to Public, that URL is tied to your session and wont work for your family. Over the years Ive tested both methods extensively. Heres the data on it:

  • Browser URL: Fails 90 percent of the time if privacy isnt set to Public.
  • Invite Button (View Only): The gold standard. It creates a static link that doesnt expire and bypasses the login wall for most viewers. Your grandma wont need an account just to view the toaster if you use the Invite link. If you ever need to handle the actual checkout process for her later, check out Amazon cart sharer to make it easier. Stick with the Invite button tho, its the only logical choice for reliability.
