So I am trying to figure out what the best versatile gimbal for Sony Alpha cameras is right now because I am honestly stuck between the DJI RS 3 Mini and the Zhiyun Crane M3S. I have an A7SIII that I use for my main client work with some heavy G-Master glass but I also just picked up a ZV-E10 for a lighter travel setup and I really need something that can handle both without being a total pain to rebalance every five minutes. Im heading to Japan in about three weeks for a huge vlog project so the timeline is getting pretty tight and I need to make a choice soon. The RS 3 Mini seems like the obvious choice for the weight capacity but I've heard the Crane M3S is way more compact for packing into a backpack which is a big deal since I am trying to one-bag this trip. Budget is around 400-500 bucks max. Is the RS 3 Mini overkill for the smaller camera or is the Crane gonna struggle with the A7SIII once I throw a decent lens on it? I also looked at the standard RS 3 but it feels too bulky for a tourist vibe and I dont want to stand out too much. What are you guys actually using for these dual-camera setups that doesnt break your back?

Just get the DJI RS 3 Mini 3-Axis Gimbal. In my experience:

  • Crane M3S struggles with G-Masters
  • RS 3 handles both bodies easily It wont let you down in Japan.

Ngl, I've been in that exact spot trying to balance a heavy rig for client work and a tiny vlog setup. Last summer I dragged a massive gimbal through Kyoto and honestly, my wrists were shot by day three. If you're worried about the Zhiyun Crane M3S 3-Axis Gimbal being too weak for the A7SIII, you're probably right. Once you put a heavy G-Master on there, the motors might struggle. I'd look at these instead:

  • Zhiyun Weebill 3S Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer. This is basically the goldilocks option. It's got way more torque than the M3S but folds down enough that it doesnt scream pro filmmaker in a crowd. It handled my A7SIII and the 24-70mm GM II without any major motor vibration.
  • FeiyuTech SCORP-C Camera Stabilizer. The built-in handle is a lifesaver for low-angle shots. It’s super stable for the heavier A7SIII setup, though it feels a bit weird when you mount the ZV-E10 because it's so light... kinda lopsided. The Weebill is probably the better one-bag choice for Japan tho.

Regarding what #2 said about being in that exact spot... heavy rigs in Japan are a workout. Im super happy with the FeiyuTech SCORP-C 3-Axis Gimbal Stabilizer for my Sony setup. The built-in handle really saves your arms. Quick tips:
