I'm leaving for Tokyo in literally six days and still haven't picked my lens for my X-T30. I'm trying to stay under 600 bucks. Everyone online says the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 is the obvious choice cause it's so small but then I saw a bunch of videos saying the 10-18mm is better for those tight city streets and now I'm second guessing everything. I'm only taking one lens to keep things light so I'm stressed lol. Is the 18-50 actually wide enough for architecture or am I gonna regret not having that extra width? Which one is the better 'one lens' solution for a fast paced trip?
I spent a week in Shibuya tracking my focal lengths and realized 16mm is usually the sweet spot for cityscapes. The Sigma 16mm f1.4 DC DN Contemporary for Fujifilm X is a technical powerhouse that outperforms the zooms for night shots.
> Is the 18-50 actually wide enough for architecture or am I gonna regret not having that extra width? Honestly, grab the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary for Fujifilm X and dont look back! Its freaking amazing for travel. I did Tokyo last year and 18mm was plenty wide for shrines and streets. The Sigma 10-18mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary is cool but way too wide for your only lens since you cant zoom in for food or portraits. The 18-50 is the ultimate one lens setup!
