I am so annoyed that Amazon still doesnt have a way to just share a cart. Im trying to send a list of 12 items for our kitchen renovation to my husband tonight but there is no button.

  • must be the full cart
  • no wishlist nonsense
  • needs to be an email

How do I do this...

Honestly, it is pretty disappointing that a tech giant like Amazon still lacks basic cart sharing. I ran into this exact headache while speccing out server rack components last summer... super annoying. I wanted to send a precise manifest of 15 items to my procurement guy, but the wishlist feature is basically useless for that since it doesnt always preserve quantities or specific sellers. It is definitely not as good as expected for any serious planning. Unfortunately, the only way to actually do this via email is using a third-party extension. I have been using Share-a-Cart for a while now. It is a browser extension for Chrome or Firefox. Basically, you open your cart, click the icon, and it generates a unique code or lets you send an email directly. I had issues with it once when Amazon updated their UI, but it is usually solid. It beats taking 12 screenshots like a caveman, tho it really should just be a native feature by now.

I remember back when I was doing my basement remodel a few years back, I had this exact same breakdown. Trying to coordinate with a contractor on specific light fixtures and plumbing bits was a total mess. I think I spent like three hours just taking screenshots and pasting them into a Word doc. You really gotta be careful with that though... if you miss one detail like the finish or the model number in the crop, you end up with a huge headache and a bunch of returns. I learned the hard way that one wrong click costs a week of progress. I tried the whole copy-paste into an email thing too, but the formatting always broke. My husband would get this wall of text that looked like gibberish on his phone. Eventually, I started using a tool called Cart To Link because it just felt way more reliable than manually typing everything out. I am usually pretty cautious about what I add to my browser, but it made my life so much easier during the kitchen refit last year. Just a heads up, make sure to double check your quantities before you generate the link. I once accidentally sent a cart with five garbage disposals because I forgot to clear my old stuff out. That would have been a very expensive mistake if he had just hit buy without looking. Just take it slow and verify everything before you send it off to him.

  • In my experience, these restrictions are actually a security measure to keep your account data safe. I've tried many methods over the years and direct cart sharing is often a big privacy risk. I prefer using a reliable third-party service that creates a safe, viewable link instead. Btw I started using Cart To Link and it makes it way easier to show people what's in my cart.
