I'm looking for recommendations on the best memory card to use with it. I'll be shooting a mix of 4K 60p video and high-resolution stills, so I need a card with fast write speeds and reliable performance.

What memory cards are you using, and how have they performed in terms of speed and reliability? Any specific brands or models I should consider?

Saw this earlier but just now responding. Im a bit of a stickler for reliability because losing footage is my biggest fear. When I first got the GH7, I was pretty nervous about picking the wrong card, so I spent a lot of time reading manuals and trying to understand the technical side. Tbh, for 4K 60p, the requirements are pretty steep. I found that while UHS-II is okay, CFexpress feels a lot safer for long recordings. Here is what I have noticed from my experience:

  • CFexpress Type B cards generally handle the heat better during high-bitrate recording sessions.
  • If you use SD cards, you really need a V60 or V90 rating or the camera might just stop recording mid-take. I went with the ProGrade Digital CFexpress Type B Gold 512GB for my main video work. For the second slot, I use a Sony TOUGH-G series SDXC UHS-II 128GB because the build quality feels more rugged for backup. Quick tips:
  • Always check the manual to see if your specific video bitrate requires the CFexpress slot.
  • Format your card in the camera every single time you offload your files to keep the file system clean.

@Reply #2 - good point! Honestly I was so shocked at how pricey these cards get when I first picked up the GH7. I spent like three days straight hunting for deals because I really wanted to shoot 4K 60p without going broke! I found some amazing advice on the PetaPixel gear guides and honestly the official Panasonic compatibility list is a lifesaver for checking specific bitrates. I ended up going with these and theyve been fantastic:

  • Angelbird AV PRO CFexpress B SE 512GB
  • This thing is amazing for the price. It is way cheaper than other brands but handles the heavy video files like a pro. Seriously love it.
  • ProGrade Digital SDXC UHS-II V60 256GB
  • If you dont need the absolute highest bitrate, these V60 cards are a great way to save money while still getting plenty of storage. You should definitely check the official Lumix support site for the latest firmware compatibility list tho... it really helps narrow things down so you dont waste money on a card that wont work!

Use a UHS-II SD card.
