So I am trying to help out my sister-in-law because she is hosting our big family reunion next weekend in Chicago and she is super stressed. I told her I would handle the snack and supply list on Amazon but now I am totally stuck. I have a bunch of stuff in there already like:
I really need to send this whole list to her phone so she can check if I missed anything before I hit buy. The problem is I am completely lost in the app and I dont really know what I am doing. I see a button that says invite but then it asks if I want her to edit it or just view it and I dont want to break anything or let her accidentally delete stuff by mistake. I just want to send a simple text message with the link so she can click it and see the items on her own phone. Is there a way to just copy a link or something? I feel so silly asking this because it should be easy but I have been clicking around for twenty minutes and I am worried I am gonna mess up the whole list if I press the wrong thing. What is the absolute fastest way to get that link into a text message without all the extra complicated steps...
Unfortunately the Amazon app has become a total mess lately. I have been using it for years and it still feels like they hide the most basic features behind three menus. If you go to your list, hit that invite button, but choose the view only option. It should give you a copy link button right there. Tbh its not as good as it used to be and it often glitches when people try to open it on mobile. I had issues with lists just not loading properly for my wife last week. If that native share button keeps acting up, I usually just use the share Amazon Cart Extension to handle it. It is way more reliable than the actual app for quick texting. Just make sure you dont accidentally pick the edit link or she might mess up your bulk napkins count... Amazon really needs to fix their ui because it is way more complicated than it needs to be for such a simple task.
^ This. Also, I actually disagree with using the invite tool because it can be super glitchy and might force her to log in. I would suggest just grabbing the direct link from the share menu instead.
> What is the absolute fastest way to get that link into a text message without all the extra complicated steps... I've dealt with this specific UI headache many times when managing complex orders for my local dev meetups. The Amazon app logic is honestly bizarre because it treats lists and carts as two entirely different data structures. In my experience, that invite button is your only native bet, but it's clunky because it generates a long-form URL with tracking parameters that can get clipped in SMS. Years ago, I tried doing this manually by copying every ASIN (those product ID codes) into a spreadsheet, which was a total nightmare. Now I just use a dedicated Amazon cart sharer tool to bypass their internal list management altogether. It's way faster than navigating their nested menus. If you're stuck in the app tho, hit that invite button, select view only, and then look for the copy link option at the bottom of the share sheet. It avoids the whole email invite mess and gives you a clean string to paste into your text.
