Im trying to get stuff for my sisters birthday party next week and honestly this whole website is driving me crazy. Ive spent like three hours picking out these specific craft kits and some garden decor but I just want her to look at the cart and tell me if its okay before I spend my 150 dollar budget. Every time I try to send a link it just shows her an empty cart or asks for my login info which I am NOT doing because my credit card is linked. I feel so dumb even asking this but I have no idea where to start. Is there a button i am missing or some trick to just share the items without her having to be in my actual account?

@Reply #1 - good point! Security first. In my experience, there are two standard ways to handle this:

  • Amazon Wish Lists: Secure and native, but moving items from cart to list is a pain.
  • Sharing Extensions: Faster workflow but can have session privacy trade-offs. Lists are technically safer for protecting your data. I always use Cart To Link for holiday shopping so everyone knows what's already being bought.

Honestly I totally get it, Amazon can be such a pain with this stuff! I had the exact same problem last Christmas trying to organize a secret Santa thing and it was a literal nightmare. Love that you're being so careful with your login info tho! It is super smart not to share passwords especially when your cards are linked. Are you just trying to show her the specific kits to see if she likes them or do you need her to be able to actually add or remove stuff from the list herself? Also are these items coming from Prime or are they those random third party sellers that sometimes hike up the shipping fees? TL;DR: Need to know if she needs to edit the items or just view them, plus if shipping fees are eating your 150 dollar budget.

Coming back to this, I totally feel your frustration! I literally just dealt with this exact thing for my moms retirement party last month and it was a total game changer when I finally figured out the workaround. Honestly, it is so annoying that Amazon doesn't have a simple share button, but I found an amazing way to do it. Basically, the most methodical way to handle this without risking your credit card info is using a tool like Amazon cart sharer. Here is why it works: it generates a unique, temporary link that displays your cart contents on a separate, secure page. This means your sister can see the craft kits and garden decor in one place without ever touching your actual account or seeing your payment methods. It is fantastic because it keeps your private data completely isolated while allowing for that quick approval you need for your 150 dollar budget! Just a heads up on the practical side of things... you really need to watch out for shipping fees. Some of those garden items can be heavy, and those costs dont always show up clearly until the final checkout screen. I always recommend adding everything to the cart and checking the estimated total first before you send the link out so you dont go over budget. It is such a relief not having to worry about your password or account safety. You're gonna love how much easier it makes the whole party planning process! It is seriously a life saver tho.
