Can I send a public link for my Amazon shopping list?

Planning my housewarming for next month in Chicago and I'm stuck on how to share my list. I'm torn between just sending a direct Amazon link or maybe moving everything to MyRegistry because I have some IKEA stuff I want too.

Amazon is definitely more convenient for my budget since I use Prime, but I'm worried the link won't be truly public for my aunts who aren't tech savvy. I need to get this invite out by Friday so people can actually order in time. If I stick with what I have, can I actually send a public link for my Amazon shopping list that anyone can open?

ngl i have been struggling with this exact same issue for my own move lately and it is honestly driving me crazy. countless hours went into trying to figure out if there is a way to get around that stupid login screen for my older relatives but i am still totally stuck. it is so frustrating. you want to make it easy for people but amazon just makes it a mess.

  • tried making three different test lists
  • checked every single privacy toggle in the settings
  • searched for a simple view only link basically i am in the same boat as you and still havent found a way to make it work properly. been dealing with this for over a month now and its just been a huge disappointment... really wish i had a real answer but i am in the same exact situation and it feels like there is no way to actually do it.

Yeah, you can definitely send a link out, but you have to be really careful about which privacy setting you choose. I had a bit of a mess last year when I was organizing a baby shower for my cousin. I accidentally set the list to Public instead of Shared, and we ended up with some random items being bought by strangers because it was searchable on the site. It was a headache to sort out. If you go into your list settings, make sure you pick Shared. That way, your aunts can just click the link in an email or text and it opens right up for them. They dont even need to log in to see the items usually. Its much more reliable than trying to sync two different stores together, which always seems to break right when people are trying to buy stuff. Sticking with one reliable link is probably the safest bet for Friday.

  • I actually disagree that Amazon is the easiest way here. You might want to consider the login wall issue. Amazon often forces a sign-in just to see the list even when public. For tech-avoidant aunts, that is a huge hurdle for your housewarming. Since you mentioned IKEA anyway, MyRegistry is a better call imo. It pulls everything into one simple page that doesnt require a login to view. Much safer.
