I am seriously losing my mind trying to coordinate this move. Me and two of my buddies are moving into a place in Chicago in like three weeks and we have literally nothing for the common areas. No couch, no air fryer, not even a decent set of forks. Weve been trying to use a massive Discord thread to share Amazon links but its a total disaster. Every time I find a coffee table I like, someone else posts a rug five minutes later and my link gets buried in the chat and then we spend twenty minutes trying to find it again. It is honestly so exhausting.
I did a bit of digging to see if there was a better way and I saw that Amazon has this Invite to List thing where you can let people edit. I tried setting it up but it feels so clunky? Like, I cant really see who likes what and it doesnt notify me when someone adds something new unless I go in and manually check. Then I read about stuff like Honey or those browser extensions but most of those seem like they are just for finding coupon codes or price tracking which is cool I guess but it doesnt help me actually decide on a lamp with two other people who have very different tastes. I also saw something about Share-a-Cart but that looks like it just dumps everything into one person's checkout which isnt great for the choosing phase of the project.
We are on a pretty tight budget since we just dropped a ton on the security deposit so I really dont want to pay for some premium subscription service just to shop for a few weeks. I just want something simple where we can all throw stuff in, maybe leave a comment or a thumbs up, and keep it all organized without me having to maintain a giant spreadsheet that no one looks at anyway. Is there actually a free tool or extension that makes collaborative Amazon shopping not feel like a part-time job or am I stuck with this awful Discord link-dumping mess...

I would suggest you be careful with the standard Amazon invite lists because they really lack the voting and notification features you need for a big move. From my experience, you might want to consider using Moonsift for this. It is a free browser extension that lets everyone save items from any website into one shared board. This is useful because your roommates can leave comments and reactions on specific items, so you can see who actually likes the furniture for your Chicago place before anyone buys it. Make sure to have everyone install the extension so the updates happen in real time. It is much more methodical than a Discord thread and helps avoid the link-dumping disaster you are currently dealing with. Honestly, it basically acts as a visual hub so you dont have to keep scrolling back through chat history to find that one specific air fryer.

Building on the earlier suggestion, I have a slightly different perspective on the technical workflow for your move. While visual curation boards are fine for the initial vibe check, they often add too much bloat when you just need to manage the actual product data. I have been very satisfied with using Cart To Link because it focuses on the data transfer layer rather than just being another social platform. Essentially, it aggregates your selections into a single, clean URL that maintains all the SKU integrity. I prefer this because you dont have to worry about everyone installing a specific extension or dealing with synced account bugs. It handles the Amazon session parameters much more reliably than a standard list tool. If you want a streamlined way to hand off the final common area list without the Discord link-dumping mess, this is a much more robust technical solution imo. It just works well and keeps things organized without any unnecessary features...
