I’m so frustrated because my big Canon keeps tipping over on this cheap stand and I’m scared itll break. My logic was a stand is a stand right? Apparently not.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I have $200 for a new one and I dont know what brands are good...

^ This. Also, unfortunately, most consumer stands lack the torsional rigidity for heavy full-frame bodies. I've seen way too many fail under load. For a $200 budget, you're better off with high-capacity aluminum.

I had issues with the Manfrotto 055 leg locks failing in the field before, and honestly, the stability wasnt as good as expected for such a heavy piece of kit. It's frustrating when you spend good money and it still feels a bit wobbly with a long lens. If you want something that actually stays still, check out the Slik Pro 700 DX AMT Tripod. It uses a proprietary alloy thats way stiffer than standard aluminum. I've used it with heavy full-frame setups and it's basically a rock. Another solid choice if you can find a sale is the Sirui R-2004 Aluminum Tripod with G-20KX Ball Head. Their build quality has really surpassed the legacy brands at this price tier lately. Just dont trust those tiny travel tripods with a big Canon body... you're just asking for a heart attack when the wind picks up. Let me know if you need more help picking a specific head for those legs.

In my experience, cheap legs are basically asking for a broken lens... I've tried many over the years and learned that lesson the hard way. Look at the Benro Mach3 2 Series Aluminum Tripod TMA28A. Its built like a tank and wont budge. Tbh, always hang your camera bag from the center hook for extra stability. It helps a ton.
