How can I get alerts when Walmart items go on rollback?

I am honestly about to lose my mind with the Walmart app and their whole rollback system because it feels like a total black box lately. Ive been tracking prices and flipping stuff on the side for years so im not exactly a newbie at this stuff, I usually have my systems dialed in but lately everything is just... broken? I used to rely on BrickSeek for almost everything but their free tier is basically a ghost town now and honestly even the paid version has been missing the local rollbacks in my area lately.

I live out in a suburb of Des Moines and my local stores are constantly putting stuff on rollback without any warning. I walked in yesterday and saw a bunch of the high-end car seats and some Lego Technic sets marked down by like 40% but my trackers didnt send a single push notification. Its like the store-specific price changes arent hitting the main web scrapers the same way they used to. I’m trying to stock up for my nephews birthday next month and I have a strict $200 budget for the whole haul so I really need to catch these drops the second they happen or the local resellers just sweep the shelves clean.

Here is what I am looking for in a solution:

  • Needs to be automated because I cant spend my whole workday refreshing a page
  • Has to track local store-specific pricing not just the national walmart.com price because they are often different
  • Budget is pretty tight so I dont want to pay more than like 10 bucks a month for a subscription
  • Something that actually works in 2024 because half the scripts I found on GitHub are deprecated now

Is there some new API tool or maybe a specific Discord server that pings for local zip codes? I tried setting up my own Python script with BeautifulSoup but Walmarts bot protection is such a headache to bypass now and I just dont have the time to deal with rotating proxies for a few toy deals. If anyone has a workaround or a service that actually still functions for local price drops please let me know...

I totally get the frustration. I spent hours trying to get those old Python scripts running last summer just to get some cheap camping gear, and it was honestly a disaster. Walmarts security is just too aggressive now. Every time I thought I had a system, it would just stop working. Unfortunately, even the paid trackers I tried before were constantly showing outdated info for my specific store, which is a huge waste of gas when you drive out there for nothing. I had issues with almost every guaranteed method I found online. Lately, Ive been using PriceDropCatch because it actually seems to catch those local rollback shifts that the bigger sites miss. It is not as good as the old days, but for staying under a budget, it gets the job done without the headache of managing your own proxies. Its pretty much the only way I caught those Lego Technic sets lately... just gotta be fast.

Just saw this thread and had to weigh in because I went down that same rabbit hole last year. Honestly, be careful with those old automated methods because Walmart really beefed up their security lately. I tried running some heavy scrapers and my home IP got flagged pretty fast, which was a total nightmare when I just wanted to buy groceries online later. I would suggest being a bit more cautious with the automated scripts you find on GitHub. These days, a lot of those local rollbacks are actually triggered by the store manager manually to clear shelf space, so they dont even hit the main database until hours later sometimes. Its like the digital side of the store isnt talking to the physical shelves as fast as it used to... everything feels a bit disconnected. I am curious though, are you mostly hunting for specific high-value items like those Lego sets, or are you just looking for any broad price drops across the whole toy department? Also, are you checking the clearance endcaps or do you need to know when the price changes on the actual home shelf? Tracking everything at once is basically impossible now without a massive proxy budget, so narrowing it down might save you some sanity. Sticking to just a few zip codes might be safer too if you dont want to get your accounts flagged.
