I just dropped way too much money on the Sigma 24-70mm Art for my Sony and now I am staring at the 82mm thread size and honestly crying a little bit inside. Like why are filters for this size so freaking expensive?? I have a wedding shoot coming up in three weeks in SoCal and I need something to protect the glass but also kill the glare because its gonna be super bright near the water. I am totally torn between getting the Hoya HD3 UV or maybe the B+W Master Clear, but then part of me is like do I just go all out for the PolarPro Peter McKinnon variable ND since I will probably need it for video eventually anyway?
My budget is pretty much capped at 150 bucks because the lens wiped me out. I have read that some filters cause vignetting on the wide end (24mm) with this specific Sigma lens and that would literally ruin my life right now. I just want something that wont soften the image because whats the point of buying an Art lens if the filter makes it look like a potato... does anyone have this setup and what did you go with? Is the B+W worth the extra cash or is Hoya good enough for professional work?
Dude, the 82mm tax is real lol! I use the Hoya 82mm HD3 Circular Polarizer on my Sigma and it is freaking amazing! Seriously, dont overthink it. It kills that water glare and doesnt mess with sharpness at all.
