I just picked up the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 Art for my Sony and man it is a beast but i am freaking out about the front element because i have a shoot this Friday at Cannon Beach. The wind there is no joke and i dont want sand or salt spray hitting the glass directly. I spent way more than i should have on the lens so my budget for filters is kinda tight now like maybe $120 max for both a protector and maybe a circular polarizer if i can swing it.

I spent like three hours on forums last night and everyone says get the B+W MRC Nano ones but they are like $90 just for one filter which seems crazy right? Then I saw the Hoya Fusion or Pro1 series mentioned as a budget pick but then a bunch of guys in a Facebook group were complaining that they are a total nightmare to clean and get smeary if you even look at them wrong. I really dont want to compromise the sharpness because that is why i bought the Art series in the first place. Some people say a cheap filter is a crime on this lens and will cause weird ghosting but i cant afford a $200 set right now.

Does anyone actually use a UV filter on their Art lens for protection or am I better off just using the hood and praying? And if you do use one which brand actually fits well without making the lens cap fall off constantly because i heard that happens with some slim ones... any suggestions for a decent balance of price and quality that i can grab on Amazon prime today?

You really shouldnt skimp on glass for that Art lens, especially with salt spray. I would suggest looking at these specific options to balance cost and performance:
