I just got a Sony camera for my trip to Chicago and I'm totally lost with all these lens choices. I really want to do street photography but I dont know anything about focal lengths or what the numbers mean. Someone told me Sigma makes great ones but there are like a million of them online and I'm honestly so stressed about picking the wrong one. I just want my pictures to look sharp and not like my phone.

  • my budget is around 400 or 500 dollars
  • i want it to be small so i dont look like a creep
  • needs to work when it gets dark out

Does anyone know which one is the simplest to start with? I'm so sorry if this is a really dumb question i just have no idea where to start...

Honestly, dont overthink it. In my experience, the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary for Sony E is the absolute best place to start. I've used it for years and it's tiny, fast, and works like a charm when it gets dark in the city. It gives you that blurry background your phone just cant do. Plus it fits right in your budget for Chicago.
