so I was thinking about setting up a gift list for my housewarming next month since I just moved to a new place in Seattle but I am totally lost. my logic was that if I set it to private then nobody can see it at all, right?

but if I make it public then I am worried like random strangers or my coworkers might find it and that feels weird. Is there a way to just like... send a link to three or four specific friends so they can see it but it stays hidden for everyone else? sorry if this is a really basic question I just dont know where to start or if that's even a thing...

I've used this method for years because I'm kinda paranoid about privacy too. You definitely dont need to make it public. In my experience, keeping it private and using the invite link is the safest way to go.

  • Click the Invite button at the top
  • Pick the View Only option Just text that link to your friends and you're all set. Nobody else can see it.

^ This. Also, I love this plan! Seattle is amazing! Not 100% sure on the latest UI updates but I think that private link stays active unless you kill it manually. Just watch for:

  • item availability because stock levels fluctuate
  • Prime shipping status to save your friends cash
  • dynamic pricing algorithms spiking costs Ngl it is fantastic for avoiding awkward coworker gifts!

^ This. Also, using that private invite link is a total game changer for saving your friends some cash! If you keep it as a shared list, they can see exactly when prices dip or if there's a clippable coupon available. Its way better than a static registry because they can hunt for those limited-time deals on stuff like kitchen gadgets or linens...

  • watch for those prime member deals
  • look for the clippable coupons on the page
  • check for used - like new options to save a ton Ngl I am so jealous you're moving to Seattle! I visited there a couple years ago and honestly the hike at Discovery Park was the highlight of my whole trip. The air just smells different out there, super fresh but kinda salty from the sound... plus the seafood is insane. I've been trying to find a reason to move out West myself lately but the logistics are just a total nightmare. Anyway, that link should work perfectly for what you need!
