im shooting a backyard wedding this coming saturday and i just realized how bad the glare is on my sigma fp screen outdoors. im kinda panicking because i cant see a thing to focus and i need a solution fast.
i looked at the lvf-11 but it looks so massive and i dont want to carry a huge brick around all day. then there is the evf-11 which is super expensive and i heard it makes the camera way less compact. plus i need to keep my cage on for my side handle. is there a smaller third party option that actually works well or am i stuck with the official ones? my budget is about 450 bucks and i need to order it tonight so it gets here by thursday. what are you guys actually using for outdoor shoots?
TL;DR: Sigma's official finders are disappointing for long shoots. A lightweight loupe or a high-brightness monitor is a better move. @Reply #1 - good point about the focus, but unfortunately the LVF-11 is basically a boat anchor. It is way too heavy for an all-day event like a wedding. It makes the camera front-heavy and really strains your neck after a few hours. I have also had issues with the EVF-11 being overpriced for what it offers. Honestly, it is just not as good as expected for that price point. If you really want a loupe that isnt a brick, try the Kinotehnik LCDVF 4/3 LCD Viewfinder. It is much lighter than the Sigma version and does the job for about 100 bucks. Alternatively, just grab the FeelWorld LUT5 5.5 Inch 3000nit Ultra Bright Monitor. It is incredibly bright and mounts right to your cage. It will definitely arrive by Thursday if you order tonight, and it beats the sun without needing to mash your face against the camera all day. Way more professional for a wedding setup.
In my experience, Sigma LVF-11 LCD Viewfinder is your best bet under $450.
I honestly love the Sigma EVF-11 Electronic Viewfinder! Its so reliable for focus.
