My old Manfrotto head is failing me now that I moved to the GH6. The extra weight with my cage and top handle is just too much and it keeps slipping. Need a solid fluid head for a wedding next Saturday.

  • budget around $500
  • real counterbalance
  • quick setup

What are you guys using for this beast?

honestly i switched to the SmallRig AD-100 FreeBlazer 75mm Bowl Tripod System for my heavy GH6 rig and it is amazing! that one-button height adjustment totally saved me at my last wedding.

^ This. Also, ive been super satisfied with the Benro BV6 Video Tripod Kit. Honestly, i was terrified of my rig crashing down on a weak head, so the 8-step counterbalance gives me peace of mind.

  • holds 13.2 lbs easily
  • 75mm bowl for quick leveling
  • very stable for weddings Its about 480 bucks and works well for that gh6 beast... no complaints here.

I love the Panasonic GH6 so much but i totally feel your pain with the weight! Once you get that cage and a decent lens on there its basically a workout just holding the thing lol. I remember when i was starting out i used to pinch every penny to afford my first real setup. Cost is always such a huge factor but honestly its worth it to not have your gear hit the floor!

  • always check your plate twice
  • keep a hex key in your pocket
  • never trust a cheap quick release Actually talking about stability reminds me of this beach wedding i shot. The wind was so insane that the arbor literally blew over right as the bride was walking down! I had to sprint over and grab it while the cake got covered in sand. Anyway lol sorry kinda went off topic there.
