So I finally got this GH5 used for a documentary project I'm shooting out in rural Oregon next month and man that built-in screen is tiny especially when I'm trying to pull focus manually in the sun. I’ve been looking around and everyone points to the Atomos Ninja V but my logic was why spend 500+ bucks if the GH5 already does 10-bit internal recording? I mean sure the SSD recording is nice but I'm really just looking for a solid display that wont lie to me about my exposure. Then I saw the Feelworld F6 Plus which is way cheaper but I read some reviews saying the color accuracy is total garbage and you cant see it in daylight without the sunhood which is annoying as hell. I'm kinda stuck between wanting something professional and not wanting to blow my whole 400 dollar remaining budget on just a screen. Is there like a middle ground I'm missing? Maybe something from PortKeys or SmallHD that actually plays nice with the GH5 battery situation? I'm worried about the weight too since I'll be hiking a lot and dont want a massive rig. Just looking for something that actually stays bright enough without killing my neck or my wallet...

Re: "Saw this and had to jump in because..." - honestly I've been very satisfied with the Blackmagic Design Video Assist 5 inch 3G Portable Monitor. It's built like a tank and wont fail you in the field like those cheap plastic options. Color is spot on and the exposure tools are actually accurate. No complaints about the visibility either, it works well for a professional setup without breaking the bank.

Forget the Feelworld if you're shooting outdoors. In my experience, you need at least 2000 nits to see anything in direct sun without a hood. Take a look at the PortKeys LH5P II 5.5 Inch 2200 Nit Touchscreen Monitor. It's bright enough for Oregon sun, stays within budget, and has solid camera control for the GH5. Way better than messing with a flimsy sunhood all day.

Saw this and had to jump in because I just went through a massive spec deep-dive for my own GH5 rig! You totally dont need a bulky recorder like the Ninja V since the GH5 internal 10-bit 4:2:2 is already killer. For hiking in Oregon, you gotta look at the power-to-weight ratio and nit count specifically! Wait, what kind of battery setup are you running for the hike? Are you using small NP-F550s or are you trying to power the monitor and camera off a bigger V-mount? That really changes how much weight you're actually dragging through the woods. Check these out, they are fantastic for daylight work:
