I just picked up a used G9 for a wedding I am shooting this coming Saturday in Seattle and I totally blanked on the fact that it only came with one single battery. Total oversight on my part and now I am panicking a bit because I need to get this sorted by Friday. I need at least three more batteries to be safe for a full day of shooting video and stills but the official Panasonic DMW-BLF19 ones are like 60 or 70 bucks each which is just not happening after I spent all my savings on the body and a 12-60mm lens.
I am stuck between a couple options. I am looking at the Wasabi Power pack on Amazon because it comes with two batteries and a dual charger for super cheap but I keep reading horror stories about third party batteries swelling up and getting stuck inside the camera or just dying without warning at 30 percent. Then I saw those SmallRig batteries that have the USB-C port built right into the battery itself which seems amazing for charging in the car between locations. My budget is strictly around 80 bucks max for everything right now. Should I just bite the bullet and buy one single official Panasonic battery and hope I can manage or is it worth taking the risk on the Wasabi or SmallRig multi-packs so I actually have enough power to get through the reception? Has anyone had issues with the G9 rejecting off-brand stuff?
> I need at least three more batteries ^ This. Also, check Neewer DMW-BLF19 Replacement Battery 2-Pack with USB Charger. Over the years, theyve been solid for me and fit your budget perfectly. Way safer than the really cheap stuff.
im satisfied with SmallRig DMW-BLF19 USB-C Rechargeable Camera Battery. They work well and dont swell, plus direct charging is way safer than using those sketchy cheap external cradles during the reception.
