I have a huge wedding gig in Chicago next Saturday and my old flash just died on me totally out of nowhere so I need a replacement like yesterday. Im looking at the Nikon SB-5000 because obviously its native and probably more reliable but damn its pricey. On the other hand everyone keeps talking about the Godox V1 and how the round head gives better light falloff plus its way cheaper so I could maybe buy two? My budget is $600 max and I really need something that can keep up with fast bursts because I cant miss the kiss or anything. Is the Nikon worth the extra cash for the D850 or should I just go with Godox? I really need to order this by tonight...

Caught this late. I use the Godox V860III-N TTL Li-ion Flash for Nikon for wedding bursts tho. Its 1.5s recycle time is legit and the Li-ion battery lasts all day.

Honestly, I would suggest the Godox V1-N TTL Li-ion Round Head Flash for Nikon. It is reliable enough for most, but make sure to handle the hot shoe carefully as it can be a weak point compared to the Nikon. For $600, you can actually afford two units, which is much safer for a big wedding. TL;DR: Buy two Godox V1 flashes to ensure you have a backup.
