So I finally upgraded from my old X-T10 to the X-T30 II and man, I forgot how tiny these bodies are. Ive been shooting Fuji for a decade but Im actually a bit stressed because I have a trip to the Dolomites coming up in like two weeks and I realized my old half-case doesnt fit right because of the slightly different screen hinge or whatever it is. Im terrified of dinging the bottom plate when Im out hiking. I need a leather half-case or maybe a small rig cage that actually looks decent?
But my main concern is the battery. I know the NP-W126S has never been a marathon runner but the battery life on this thing seems even worse than my old camera somehow maybe its the processor or the film sims Im running constantly lol. I looked at the Wasabi Power ones but Ive heard some horror stories about them swelling in the chamber and I really cant risk that on a big trip. Budget is around $150 total for everything. Are there any specific third party batteries that are actually reliable or should I just bite the bullet and buy one overpriced OEM Fuji battery? Also if anyone knows a case that lets me swap the battery without taking the whole thing off that would be a lifesaver... everything I see on Amazon looks like cheap junk.
To add to the point above:
@Reply #1 - good point! Sadly, off-brand gear failed me tho:
Congrats on the upgrade! The X-T30 II is such a beast for its size, I honestly love it to death even though it feels like a toy compared to the older bodies. I just got back from a mountain trip myself and I totally get the battery anxiety... these things eat power like crazy when you are using the film sims constantly lol. Since you are heading to the Dolomites in two weeks, you definitely want something solid. Here is what I totally recommend based on my own setup and years with the Fuji system:
