Which ND filter brand works best for the DJI Air 3?

So I finally pulled the trigger on the Air 3 and man I am absolutely buzzing to get this thing in the air. Seriously the dual camera setup is such a game changer for the stuff I want to do. I have a trip to the Dolomites coming up in about three weeks—lots of bright limestone and harsh sun—and I really need to get my shutter speed down for that cinematic look. I've been looking at ND filters and honestly I am so stuck between a few brands because the price jump is kinda wild.

I am basically looking at these three options right now:

  • Freewell All Day 6-Pack
  • PolarPro Vivid Collection
  • Skyreat Budget Set

I have been leaning towards the Freewell set because everyone seems to use them and they have that lifetime warranty which is nice if I mess one up. But then I see the PolarPro stuff and they look so premium but they are like double the price for fewer filters and I am wondering if the glass quality is actually that much better for the Air 3 sensor size. Like will I even notice? My budget is tops $150 but I would rather stay under $100 if the cheap ones are good enough. The Skyreat ones are super cheap on Amazon and I am tempted to just grab those and save the cash for extra batteries but I am scared of color shifts or getting a gimbal error because they are too heavy.

I really want to make sure whatever I get doesn't mess with the 70mm telephoto lens sharpness because that is what I am most excited to use for those compressed mountain shots. The 70mm is the whole reason I upgraded so I dont want to ruin it with cheap glass. Does anyone have experience with these three on the Air 3 specifically? Is PolarPro actually worth the premium or is Freewell the sweet spot for the dual lens setup?

You might want to consider the PGYTECH ND Filter Set for DJI Air 3 (ND 8 16 32 64) as a safer mid-range choice. I would suggest being careful with the Skyreat ND Filter Set for DJI Air 3 6-Pack tho.

  • Weight inconsistencies might stress delicate gimbal motors.
  • Cheaper coatings often struggle with flare on that 70mm lens. Make sure to prioritize long-term motor health. You dont want a gimbal error in the Dolomites.

Grabbed the PolarPro Vivid Collection ND/PL for DJI Air 3 recently. Optical clarity on the 70mm is perfect and theres zero color shifting, tho you definitely pay a premium.

I've been extremely satisfied with the Freewell All Day 6-Pack ND Filters for DJI Air 3. The light transmission is very neutral and I havent seen any noticeable softening on the 70mm lens. They weigh exactly what the gimbal expects so no motor stress. It works well for maintaining that 180-degree shutter rule in bright sun, no complaints at all. Definitely the sweet spot.
