I've been keeping an eye out for any news about the upcoming DJI Mavic 4 drone. As an enthusiast, I'm really excited to see what new features and improvements DJI will bring to the table with this latest addition to the Mavic series.

However, one thing that's been on my mind is the potential price point. Considering the advanced technology and the reputation of the Mavic series, I'm curious to know what you all think the DJI Mavic 4 might cost when it's released.

Do you think it will be priced similarly to the Mavic 3, or do you expect a significant increase? I'd love to hear your thoughts and any insights you might have regarding the anticipated price of this highly-awaited drone.

I think Mavic 4 will have same price range as Mavic 3, around $2000.

Regarding what #1 said about "I think Mavic 4 will have same price range as Mavic 3, around $2000" -- I think you are probably right on the money there. When I got my current setup, it was right around that price point and it felt like such a massive investment at the time. I actually had a bit of a scare a few months into owning it. I was flying over a rocky coastline and the signal flickered for just a second. Since I had spent so much, I nearly had a panic attack thinking about my bank account crashing into the surf. It really changed how I fly. I learned that:

  • the price tag definitely affects how brave you are with your shots
  • maintenance and extra care become a much bigger deal
  • you have to factor in the hidden costs like better insurance and extra batteries If the new one stays around 2k then it is manageable but if it jumps too high... well, I might just stick with what I have for a while. I have realized that having a reliable machine I am actually comfortable flying is way better than owning something so expensive that I am too scared to take it out of the bag.

Like someone mentioned, the 2000 dollar range is the historical standard, but I'm anticipating a starting price of at least 2299 for the Mavic 4. In my experience over the years, early adoption can be risky for software stability and flight safety. If you value reliability above all else, I've found a couple of existing options that are excellent choices.

  • DJI Air 3 with RC 2 provides incredible signal stability thanks to the O4 transmission. It's a very dependable option for anyone who wants high-end tech without the extreme price.
  • DJI Mavic 3 Classic is a very refined platform. Because it's been around for a while, the firmware is bulletproof. It doesn't have the triple camera of the Pro, but it keeps the core reliability and sensor specs that make it a workhorse. The Air 3 is more nimble, while the Mavic 3 Classic is more of a steady, substantial flier. I'd rather have a machine with a proven track record than be a day-one tester for the Mavic 4.

It should be cheaper than Mavic 3 Pro.
