Which Chrome extension is best for collaborative Amazon shopping with family?

Does anyone actually have a solid recommendation for a Chrome extension that lets you shop on Amazon collaboratively with other people? Ive been using Amazon for basically a decade and usually I just share links in a massive iMessage thread or use the basic Idea Lists feature but honestly it is getting so messy now that we are actually trying to furnish a whole house.

We are moving to a spot in the Queen Anne area of Seattle in about three weeks and the sheer volume of stuff we need to buy is kind of overwhelming lol. Between my wife, my sister who is helping us decorate, and me, we keep accidentally double-ordering things or losing track of which rug we actually decided on because the native Amazon list UI is just... not it. I tried using that Share-a-Cart thing a while back but it felt a little clunky and I kept having issues where the cart wouldnt sync across different accounts if one of us was on mobile vs desktop.

I am looking for something that:

  • lets us all add items to a single dashboard or shared cart
  • has a way to leave comments on specific items like hey this matches the curtains
  • actually stays synced in real time without me having to refresh the page fifty times
  • maybe shows price drops if possible because our budget is getting eaten up fast by moving costs

I consider myself pretty tech savvy—I usually handle all the smart home setup and everything—but I am stumped on why Amazon hasnt made this a native feature yet that actually works well. Every time I search the Chrome Web Store I just see a bunch of sketchy-looking extensions with like three reviews or stuff that looks like it hasn't been updated since 2018. Is there a hidden gem I am missing here or maybe a third party site that integrates really well? We really need to get this sorted by next weekend so we can get everything delivered by move-in day...

I prioritize data security above all else, so honestly, I only trust the official Amazon Assistant extension. It is a fantastic, reliable solution for household coordination! It uses the universal registry feature. This lets your family consolidate every item into one secure dashboard. Basically, it is amazing for tracking budgets and prevents those annoying double-orders... absolutely essential for a Seattle move!

  • Honestly, I tried so many tools that failed me. Sadly, most were disappointing. Just get Cart To Link for your family, it actually works tho.

Just jumping in here since I spent way too much time debugging similar issues when setting up my home office. Amazon's session handling is notoriously difficult for third-party extensions to sync in real-time across different accounts because of how they rotate security tokens. I've had decent luck using Cart To Link to bridge that gap. It doesnt try to force a live cart sync—which usually breaks—but instead creates a manageable link that handles the heavy lifting. A few technical bits to consider for your move:

  • Most extensions fail on mobile because the Amazon app hijacks the URL scheme.
  • Look for something that exports to CSV if you're really hardcore about budget tracking.
  • For price drops, you honestly need a dedicated tracker like CamelCamelCamel to see the 12-month history so you dont get burned by fake sales. It's not a perfect native solution, but it's much cleaner than a messy iMessage thread.
