Re: Building on the earlier suggestion, it is unfortunately true that most of these extensions are a total gamble. I spend way too much time trying to optimize my Amazon hauls but you really have to be careful when you start trusting these tools with big orders. One thing you might want to consider is doing a tiny test with just one item before you dump the whole camping list in there. I have noticed Shopping Cart Share can be way more temperamental than some of the others, especially if you have items that are low in stock. Also, make sure to remind your friends to check their default delivery address before they open the link. If their zip code has different stock levels than yours, Amazon basically just nukes the items from the shared cart without any warning. It is so frustrating but checking that first saves a lot of headache, tbh.

ugh, share-a-cart has been driving me crazy lately too. i was trying to gear up for a festival and it just kept dropping items for my buddies. honestly i think i heard someone on a camping sub mention Shopping Cart Share might be the move. not 100 percent sure if it fixes every single glitch you're seeing but IIRC it seemed a bit more stable for larger lists. basically you just grab the code and send it over. i havent tested it for a cross-country sync personally but it supposedly handles the amazon database a bit cleaner. might be worth a look before you lose your mind dealing with broken links again lol. i'm still testing a few others but that one stands out as a decent option from what i remember.

Building on the earlier suggestion, it is unfortunately true that most cart tools are trash these days. I have been doing bulk procurement for projects for years and I am constantly disappointed by how often these extensions fail. The main issue is that Amazon changes its site structure constantly and most devs dont keep up. Here is why you are seeing those glitches:

  • Session timeouts: Most extensions try to copy your active session which triggers Amazons security bots.
  • Regional inventory: If an item is out of stock in your friends local warehouse, the link breaks if the extension isnt smart enough to handle SKU variations.
  • API throttling: Cheap extensions get rate-limited when you have more than 10 items. Honestly, Shopping Cart Share is the only one that hasnt let me down lately. It actually packages the item data into a cloud-hosted list instead of just trying to force-inject code into someone elses browser. It is much more reliable for those big camping hauls.

literally just finished a massive DIY backyard deck project and went through this exact same headache!! i was trying to get my brother to look at the hardware list and half the stuff just vanished into thin air... so frustrating! anyway i eventually found Cart To Link and it was literally amazing for keeping everything organized and making sure we didnt double-buy anything. just a couple things i learned the hard way tho:

  • NEVER trust the extension to handle your private info. check those permissions carefully cuz some are super invasive!
  • make sure your friends actually refresh their page. sometimes it looks like it worked but its just showing old cached stuff.
  • honestly double check the quantities before you hit buy. i almost ordered 40 hammers once lol! love finding ways to hack these systems but definitely be careful with the bigger lists. good luck with the camping trip!

Had a minute to look at the logs... Like someone mentioned, glitches are usually just bad API handling! I analyzed the code for a bunch of these while building my server rig and honestly, most are just poorly optimized. I have to disagree on Cart To Link tho... it really struggles with bulk orders! Love finding the perfect tool!

  • try Shopping Cart Share
  • watch for invasive permissions
  • verify item counts Its amazing how much money it saves!
