ive been looking at flashes for my canon 90d because im finally trying to do some proper portraits for my friends headshots in my tiny apartment studio. i keep seeing people rave about the godox v860iii since it has that lithium battery but then i see other folks saying the canon 430ex iii-rt is way more reliable for ttl consistency and wont overheat on me. my budget is like 250 bucks max so i cant really go for the crazy high end canon stuff right now. my logic was that a third party flash might be better value but im scared itll glitch out mid-shoot or something. maybe i dont even need that much power for headshots?
Honestly, just go for the Godox V860III-C TTL Li-ion Flash for Canon and dont even look back! I used to mess around with those annoying AA batteries on older speedlites and it was a total nightmare during long shoots. The lithium battery in this godox is absolutely amazing and lasts forever... literally. You can shoot headshots all day on one charge and wont have to worry about recycle times. In a tiny apartment studio, you definitely dont need crazy power anyway, so this is more than enough. I havent had any reliability issues with ttl on my canon bodies tbh. Its such a fantastic value compared to the overpriced canon gear. Plus the modeling light is actually super helpful for seeing where your shadows fall before you click the shutter! Love it for quick setups.
Ive been happy with the Godox V860III-C TTL Li-ion Flash for Canon. Its super reliable tho, but for better light spread, check out the Godox V1-C TTL Li-ion Flash for Canon instead...
