Im so done with Honey honestly. I swear it used to be good but lately it just sits there spinning for two minutes trying 50 expired codes only to tell me I already have the best price when I know for a fact there are working codes out there. I was trying to buy some keycaps and switches from mechanicalkeyboards.com last night for my brothers birthday next week (trying to keep the whole build under $150) and Honey did its whole little dance and saved me literally zero dollars. Capital One Shopping is not much better, it just spams me with emails now.

It is just so frustrating wasting time at checkout watching these progress bars fill up for nothing. I just want something lightweight that actually has updated, working codes and doesnt track my entire digital life if possible.

What Chrome extensions are you guys actually using these days that work? Are there any hidden gems that actually find legit discounts, or are they all pretty much useless now?

I get the frustration with Honey. It has gotten super bloated lately and the constant spinning at checkout is a massive pain. Before suggesting a specific alternative though, I have a couple of questions to narrow down what would work best for your setup:

  • Are you mostly shopping at niche hobbyist sites like mechanicalkeyboards.com, or do you need something that works across major mainstream retailers?
  • Is your main priority finding instant coupon codes at checkout, or are you also interested in passive cashback and price history tracking? From my experience, most coupon extensions struggle with niche stores because codes expire so fast. I usually stick to smaller, single-purpose extensions to avoid the tracking, or just grab codes manually from Reddit. Let me know what you prefer and I can point you to a decent option. By the way, it's a free extension called PriceDropCatch that tracks basically everything on the Office Depot site.
