What external monitor is actually worth it for a Sony A7IV setup because I have a shoot this Saturday and my screen keeps washing out in the sun? Im kinda panicking because its a high-stakes beach shoot in San Diego and the glare on the built-in LCD is just impossible to deal with. Ive been looking around and everyone keeps pointing at the Atomos Ninja V but honestly do I really need it if im not planning on recording ProRes raw? It feels like a lot of extra money and weight for features i might not even use right now but then i see people recommending the cheaper PortKeys or Feelworld models and the reviews are so mixed it makes my head spin. some people say the color accuracy on the budget ones is a joke and there is a weird lag with the micro hdmi port on the sony bodies. my budget is capped at around $450 because i already spent way too much on glass this month. I need something bright enough to see in direct sunlight without a massive hood if possible. is the Shinobi the better play here or should I just bite the bullet and get something else? its gotta be something i can get delivered by friday at the latest... help me out before i lose my mind lol.

Honestly, I have had issues with the budget brands lately. The Feelworld LUT7 7-inch 2200nit High Brightness Monitor is bright enough for San Diego, but unfortunately, the color accuracy is pretty terrible.

Regarding what #1 said about 'Honestly, I have had issues with the budget...', im happy with the SmallHD Action 5 5-inch 2000-nit Daylight Viewable Monitor. It works well and provides reliable visibility in direct sun.

If you are worried about that San Diego sun, the Desview R6 UHB 5.5 Inch 2800nits Ultra High Brightness Monitor is a solid bet tbh. Its 2800 nits are insanely bright for the price, way better for a beach than the Shinobi imo. It fits your $450 budget perfectly and handles high-glare situations like a champ. It should arrive by Friday too. You got this, dont stress the glare too much!

Honestly I am in the exact same boat with my A7IV and have been dealing with this for about three months now. Its incredibly frustrating that such a high-end body has an LCD thats basically useless the second you step into direct light. I have spent hours looking for a reliable monitor that fits a practical budget, but the conflicting reports on color and lag make it impossible to feel confident in a purchase. I still havent found an answer that actually works for a professional workflow without spending a fortune.
