literally so excited because i finally saved up and got the sony a7iv for my brothers wedding next weekend in seattle but my god the sd card situation is driving me insane. i thought my old sandisk extreme pros would be fine but as soon as i try to record in 4k 10-bit the camera just stops and gives me that stupid slow card error and honestly im just fed up with it. its like i spent all this money on a beast of a camera and now i cant even use the best settings because i didnt realize how picky sony is with the v60 or v90 ratings. i was trying to record his ceremony rehearsal today and it cut out after 10 seconds and i almost lost it.

i really need to grab at least two new cards before friday and i have maybe 200 bucks left in the budget for this. im looking at those sony tough cards or maybe the prograde ones but i keep hearing mixed things about them failing too? what are the actual top recommended fast sd cards for sony 4k video shooting that wont actually let me down mid-shoot? like i need something that can handle the high bitrate without crying...

@Reply #1 - good point! Yeah those older cards are a trap. Im really satisfied with these two for my A7IV:

I had issues with them failing mid-shoot and its a total nightmare. Tbh if you want something that actually works, I have been using the Kingston Canvas React Plus V90 128GB SDXC lately and they have been solid. They are way cheaper than the Sony ones and handle the high bitrate without any drama. The Sony TOUGH-G series SDXC UHS-II V90 128GB cards are okay but honestly not as good as expected for the price. I have had the literal plastic casing crack on me... super annoying for something labeled tough. If you are on a tight budget, the ProGrade Digital SDXC UHS-II V60 Gold 256GB is usually fine for standard 4K, but for a wedding just go V90 and get the Kingstons. Dont risk it with slow cards.
