Does anyone know how I can actually email a whole Amazon list to a friend without it being a total headache? I swear they change the UI every single week just to mess with us. Ive been a Prime member since like 2012 and I usually just hit the share button and grab the permalink but for some reason its acting up today. I'm trying to send a list of kitchen gear to my sister in Seattle because we are planning this big family dinner for her birthday and I want to show her the specific blender and prep bowls I found. The budget is around 200 bucks for the whole set so it's not a huge list but its stuff she specifically asked for.
I checked the privacy settings, made sure it's set to Shared and not Private, but when I click the Invite button it just gives me this weird link that asks her to join the list as a collaborator. I don't want her to edit it! I just want her to see it. And the Send email option that used to be right there in the menu seems to have vanished or its buried under three layers of submenus now. I tried a few things already:
I tried copying the URL from the browser bar but when I sent that to her she said it just took her to her own empty cart. Talk about annoying. Im sitting here on my lunch break in downtown Chicago trying to get this sorted before I have to hop back on a call and Im just clicking in circles. Is there a way to just trigger a simple email invite that actually works? Or maybe a way to export the list to a CSV or something if the direct email tool is broken? I feel like a total noob even though I use this site daily. Its just so unintuitive lately with all the sponsored junk cluttering the sidebars. If anyone knows where the hidden button is let me know...
Oh man, I totally feel your pain because I went through the exact same thing last year when I was trying to send a list of gardening tools to my brother! I spent like twenty minutes clicking around and almost lost my mind... the UI is such a mess lately! The trick is that theyve hidden the view-only link right inside that Invite menu, but it defaults to the wrong thing. Here is exactly how I fix it:
This situation reminds me of an incident involving my mothers holiday gift list. She inadvertently distributed a collaborator link, which allowed multiple family members to modify her selections. The subsequent recovery process was remarkably tedious and caused significant confusion during the event... it was a mess. I personally prefer Cart To Link because it simplifies sharing without these technical complications.
I ran into this while organizing a massive list for my home office setup! The solution is navigating to the Manage List settings and making sure the link type is strictly set to View Only instead of Invite to Edit. It was a total game changer! Once I configured that specific toggle, the permalink worked perfectly. Its absolutely amazing how much smoother it is with that one technical fix!
